How the AI image enhancer improves photo quality
The AI enlarges your image 2× or 4× and redraws the detail at the new size. Edges, hair and texture come out sharper than in a simple enlargement.
- Soft photos with mild blur get firmer edges and cleaner lines.
- Compression blocks from messenger copies and re-saved JPGs are smoothed out.
- Small images gain pixels for print, zoom and large screens.
- Small or soft faces can be restored with Enhance faces.
What it won’t fix
- Heavy motion blur or a badly out-of-focus shot. Expect only a small gain: the AI can’t recover detail the camera never captured.
- Exposure and white balance. Correct dark photos and colour casts in a photo editor first.
- Framing. The enhancer keeps the frame and aspect ratio of your image.

Before you upload
Start from the best copy you have
The AI builds on the pixels it receives. A better starting file gives a more faithful result.

Use the original file
Messengers and social networks shrink and recompress photos. Ask the sender for the original or export it from the camera or phone gallery, not a screenshot.

Fix light and colour first
Brighten an underexposed photo and correct a colour cast before enhancing. A well-exposed file gives the AI clearer detail to work with.

Crop to the subject
Cut away what you will not use, then enhance. With a tight crop, 4× gives the subject more pixels and the file stays smaller.

- Compare eyes, teeth and smile with the original: Enhance faces redraws them.
- Phone portrait mode often blurs hair edges. Check stray strands at 100% after enhancing.

- Foliage, water and gravel are where AI may invent texture. Check them at 100% zoom.
- Look along roof lines, windows and railings: straight lines should stay straight.
- Use 4× only for images under about 2000 px on the longest side. Larger ones can be rejected as too large.

- Scan the print at 600 dpi if you can. A good scan gives the AI more real detail to start from.
- Tears, stains and creases are not repaired. In our test on a scanned 1910s print, a scratch in the background stayed visible.
- Ask someone who knew the person whether the restored face still looks like them.

- Read every letter and number in the result.
- For a logo, a vector file from the designer beats any enlarged copy.
Enhance faces, side by side
In this family reunion photo each face is only about 10 pixels wide. With faces off, the AI sharpens clothes and edges, but the faces stay blurred. With faces on, most faces are redrawn with clear eyes and smiles.

Is the image enhancer free? Do I need an account?
It is free and works without sign-up. Upload an image, enhance it and download the result.
Does enhancing change the image size?
Yes. The result is 2× or 4× larger in width and height: a 1000 × 750 image becomes 2000 × 1500 at 2× or 4000 × 3000 at 4×. If you need the original dimensions, enhance first and then scale the result down with an image resizer. The cleaner detail stays.
Can it fix a blurry photo?
It works well on mild softness, a slight focus miss and blur from enlargement or compression. Strong motion blur or a subject that is out of focus can be improved only partly, because the AI has to guess detail the camera never recorded. Such results can look painted.
What does Enhance faces do?
It runs an extra pass that redraws eyes, lips and skin. Small or soft faces become clearer, but the likeness can change. Leave it off for ID photos, documents and anything that must show the person exactly as photographed.
Does the enhancer change colours or crop the photo?
It keeps the frame and aspect ratio of your image. Contrast can come out a little stronger, but it is not an exposure or white-balance tool, so fix those in a photo editor first.
Should I use Photo or AI art mode?
Use Photo for pictures from a camera or phone. Use AI art for generated images, drawings, anime, flat graphics and screenshots with clean lines.
Which formats can I upload, and what do I get back?
JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIF, TIFF and BMP, one file at a time, up to 100 MB. A JPG comes back as JPG; PNG, WebP, TIFF and BMP come back as PNG. GIF and HEIC are not accepted, so convert them to JPG first.
Will text in the image become readable?
Letter edges become crisper. The AI can also reshape characters it cannot make out, so check every letter and number. Do not rely on enhanced text for receipts, licence plates, documents or anything that must be exact.
