Remove the background from portraits and product photos. Download a transparent PNG to use in a presentation, listing or design.
Background removal separates a subject from its surroundings, so you can use it in a new layout.
Place the cutout on a slide, product listing or coloured background in your design app.
Drag the divider to compare the original photo with the downloaded result. Use the arrow keys when the comparison is focused.
With background Transparent Choose a photo, start background removal and download a transparent PNG.
Upload an image in one of the formats listed above. Use a sharp original with a clearly visible subject rather than a screenshot or heavily compressed copy.
Select Remove the background and keep the tab open while your files are processed. Keep the original photo for comparison.
Download each result when it is ready. Open the PNG in an image editor and check the outline on your intended background before using it.
Choose a subject type for practical preparation and checking tips.
Leave space around the product and use even lighting. A background that contrasts with the item makes its outline easier to distinguish.
Choose a well-lit photo with the full silhouette visible. Avoid strong motion blur and a background that blends into hair, fur or clothing.
If you have a transparent logo file, use that instead of removing a background again. For a flattened image, choose a sharp copy with clear contrast.
In this preview, the checkerboard marks transparent areas. It is not part of the image.
A transparent image lets the colour beneath it show through. A white background is still part of the image and will cover whatever sits behind it.
Keep the downloaded PNG for reuse. JPG cannot keep transparency: set the background colour you want in your editor before exporting a JPG copy.
Use these three checks in your image editor before sharing the result.
After removal, place your cutout in the editor or design app you already use.
Place the item on a consistent background. Check your marketplace’s current requirements for colour, framing and shadows before publishing.
Layer the subject over a slide without a box around it. Leave enough empty space for your title and supporting text.
Reuse a portrait or product cutout in posts, banners and thumbnails. Choose a background with enough contrast to keep the subject distinct.

Yes. You can remove backgrounds for free without creating an account.
You can upload JPG/JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIF/TIFF and BMP images, up to 100 MB each, with up to 10 files selected at a time. If your image is in another format, export a supported copy first; renaming the file extension does not convert it.
No. Background removal isolates the subject; it does not restore focus or add image detail. Use the sharpest original available and check the downloaded file’s pixel dimensions before printing or enlarging it.
Start with clear lighting and contrast between the subject and the background. Inspect fine edges at 100% and compare the cutout on light and dark backgrounds. Glass, veils and fine strands may need manual refinement in a separate editor.
You can try a supported raster image of a logo. Check thin lines, pale areas and the spaces inside letters carefully. Use the original transparent or vector artwork when available; background removal does not create a vector file.
Some image viewers display transparent areas on white. Place the downloaded PNG over a coloured background in an editor to check. If you later exported a JPG copy, transparency was flattened; return to the PNG instead. A checkerboard baked into an ordinary image is not real transparency.
Yes, a cutout can be used in a product layout. Add any required background in your design app and check the marketplace’s current image rules. Keep the product’s colour, shape and included parts accurate; background removal does not guarantee listing approval.
You can try a black-and-white photo in a supported format. A clearly defined subject and distinct edges help; grayscale alone does not determine whether the cutout will be clean.
For an incomplete cutout, try a sharper photo with better subject-to-background contrast. If processing fails, check the file type and size, then export a fresh JPG or PNG and try again. If it still fails, contact support with the format, file size and error message. Keep the tab open during processing; closing it can interrupt the workflow.
